What is "Asking a Good Question"?
UG Research, Says Prof. Susan Mendoza of Grand Valley State University
Professor Susan Mendoza is the Founding Director of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in Michigan.
When Prof. Mendoza was an undergraduate, she felt intimidated by the Faculty. So, when was doing her graduate work, she was intrigued by undergraduate students that would willingly do independent research with Faculty members.
Prof. Mendoza found that this learning outside of the classroom and creating new knowledge through research begins with curiosity, i.e., Asking a Good Question, and then working to figure out an answer to that Question.
On our Podcast, Prof. Mendoza talks about UG Research at GVSU, Council of Undergraduate Research’s (CUR) Role, Impact of Research on Students, Success Stories, and finally the Skills for High Schoolers to do Research in college.
