Isabella Wanted A College Close to Home in LA. She Attended Rice in Houston.
Isabella Osuna is a graduate of Rice University.
Isabella Osuna graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry & Cell Biology from Rice University in Houston, Texas.
1.Applying to College
When Isabella was in High School in Los Angeles, she always imagined going to college close to home.
When she started thinking of college, she wanted to apply for PreMed.
So her high school advisor suggested applying to a number of colleges and universities including Rice University in Houston, Texas.
In due course, she received the acceptance letter from Rice.
She was proud and happy.
But she still didn't want to move to Texas!
2.Admit Days
Isabella visited the Rice campus for Admit Day in her senior year to decide if she wanted to go there.
Yes, it was as beautiful campus.
But when she talked to the students on campus that had a huge impact on her!
They told her that no matter what position you have at Rice, whether you were at the top of the class or not, there are endless opportunities at Rice.
So, whether you had straight A's or if you were senior, if you wanted to do something at Rice, you could do it.
For Isabella, that meant research.
The Texas Medical Center is across the street from Rice.
The students told her that anyone who wanted to go into research was able to;
You didn't have to compete with other students;
Because there were more opportunities than there were students at Rice!
And so that was the main reason why she picked Rice.
3.Transition to Rice
Isabella says it was really scary at first.
She was the first in her family to go to College, and first to move out of state.
And being from Los Angeles, she didn't really want to move to Texas.
You know, she’d visited Rice,
And she didn’t think there was anything exciting for her to do in Houston!
But, she was wrong.
4.Incredible 4 Years at Rice!
When she got to Houston, it was really great.
Rice, is this bubble “within the hedges”.
It was really a home for her for four years.
And Isabella couldn't have fallen more in love with the city and the state, and
Everything that they have to offer.
