How UG Research came to Anoka-Ramsey Community College
Prof. Kristen Genet and her Colleagues helped Institutionalize UG Research
Kristen Genet is a Professor in the Biology Department at Anoka-Ramsey Community College (ARCC) in Minnesota.
When Prof. Genet started at ARCC, her plan was to teach a few years and move to a 4-year undergrad institution where she could pursue research. Research at a Community College is typically very challenging, given a heavy teaching load.
20 years later, Prof. Genet is still at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.
UG Research is now part of the college’s DNA! Research has been Institutionalized across Anoka-Ramsey Community College!
This was possible due to:
A great team effort by pioneers like Prof. Genet and her Colleagues,
Administrative help and support from the College Leadership,
The work of Prof. James Hewlett at FLCC, who started the CCURI to help community colleges offer UG Research
In this Podcast, Prof. Genet tells us how UG Research started at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, the role of CCURI, How UG Research was Institutionalized, Success Stories and finally, Advice for high schoolers.
