An ongoing debate has been about the value of a College Degree.
The questions and doubts about Higher Education range from the cost of college to limited focus on applicable job skills.
Shveta Bagade and I discussed this on a recent podcast inspired by an article in Yahoo!finance which discussed the Harris Poll.
Key Takeaways from the Harris Poll Survey of 2023 College Grads
9 out of 10 College Grads were glad they went to college. It was the “best way” to secure their future.
The Grads were happy with their college choice and the major they had pursued.
Next to their Major, 33% chose their college because of the Financial Aid that their college offered them.
Post Graduation Job
8 in 10 graduates looking for a job upon graduation, found one!
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, those with Bachelor’s degrees earn $30,000 more than those with only a high school education.
College Debt
43% of the Graduates have a debt of $50,000 or more. (17% have a debt of $100,000 or more).
20% of the Public School Graduates and 7% of the Private School Graduates are debt free when they leave college.
There is still a lot of work to be done in the area of college affordability. But the economic benefit upon graduation is a persuasive argument for college.
Your Thoughts?
I would love to hear what you think about this college debate.
Have a Great July 4th Week!
